Open Source Video Editing in Windows

Josh asked if I could locate some free video editing software for him. OSS rules!

  • Cinepaint is an editor derived from GIMP (was originally called "Film Gimp"). It is used by a number of major studios.
  • VirtualDub is an editor specializing in video-capture
  • AVIdemux specializes in cutting, filtering, and encoding tasks
  • Jashaka is a multi-platform editing system, which apparently specializes in effects and animation
  • More video capture/processing software may be found here

BTW, the OSSwin and OpenSourceWindows sites are both good sources of info on opensource/free Windows software in general...

Other software

  • Cinelerra is a very powerful film editing system (Linux only)
